Welcome to Ivy Tech Community College - Lafayette’s Admissions Homepage. We’re glad you’re here!  Ivy Tech Community College provides open admission, degree credit programs, courses, community service offerings, and student support services for all persons regardless of race, color, creed, national origin, religion, sex, physical or mental disability, age, or veteran status.

Citizens of other states may be admitted under the same policy provided they do not displace an Indiana citizen. The open admission policy grants access to all persons above the usual high school age and to those who have withdrawn from high school. Students currently attending high school may attend Ivy Tech Community College only with the prior written permission of their high school principals.

The Admissions Office is located in Ivy Hall at 3101 S. Creasy Lane in Lafayette. The mailing address is Admissions Office, Ivy Tech Community College, PO Box 6299, Lafayette, Indiana 47903-6299.

Steps 1 through 5 should be completed at least four weeks before the start of classes. [Classes fill early; please plan accordingly.]
  1. Call Admissions at [765] 269-5200 or [800] 669-4882, ext. 5200 to attend an admission session.

  2. Complete the admissions application packet available at the Office of Admissions, or call [765] 269-5000 or [800] 669-4882 to have a packet mailed to you. The admissions application can also be printed off from this file: PDF admissions form.

  3. Use the Request for Transcript form to have an official copy of your high school transcript or GED scores sent to Admissions.

  4. If you have attended or received a degree from another accredited college within the last ten years, have an official college transcript sent to Admissions. Your transcript[s] must be reviewed before you schedule an initial placement test. A grade of "C" or higher in English composition and algebra can be substituted for the initial placement test.

  5. If you have taken your SAT or ACT within the last four years, the transcript should be reviewed by an admissions advisor before initial placement testing is waived. SAT verbal score of 460 or higher in each area, and ACT scores of 19 or higher in each area can be substituted for the corresponding component of the initial placement test.

  6. Complete the initial placement test to determine academic placement.
