CHT 101 Industrial Laboratory Techniques -- Prerequisite: CHM 101. Introductory course dealing with basic skills needed in the industrial laboratory such as basic lab safety, identification, care and operation of basic laboratory equipment including pH meters, spectrophotometers, glassware, and definition and preparation of reagents. Includes laboratory exercises in the use of selected equipment. 2 lecture hours; 4 lab hours.

CHT 170 Success in Science -- Prerequisites: None. CHT 201 Analytical Instrumentation I -- Prerequisites: CHM 101, CHT 101. The first in a series of two courses designed to cover an advanced understanding of atomic and molecular spectroscopy including UV-VIS spectrophotometry, infrared spectroscopy, and atomic absorption. 2 lecture hours; 2 lab hours.

CHT 202 Analytical Instrumentation II -- Prerequisite: CHT 201. The second in a series of two courses designed to cover an advanced understanding of chromatography including gas chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography. 2 lecture hours; 2 lab hours.

CHT 204 Presentation of Technical Issues -- Prerequisite: CHT program chair approval. Advanced course focusing on solving problems in chemical technology settings including the analysis of the problem, generation of creative solutions and effective presentation of proposed solutions. 1 lecture hour; 4 lab hours.

CHT 207 Food, Drugs and Polymers -- Prerequisites: CHM 102, CHT 101. A survey course designed for advanced students, this course covers the basics of food science, polymer science and pharmaceuticals. 3 lecture hours.

CHT 210 Quantitative Analysis -- Prerequisites: CHM 101, CHM 102. Intermediate course that investigates techniques for quantitative analysis of samples including their applications in industrial settings. Includes techniques such as gravimetric analysis, neutralization, oxidation-reduction titrations, potentiometric measurements and complexing titrations. 2 lecture hours; 2 lab hours.

CHT 211 Organic Chemistry I -- Prerequisites: CHM 101, CHM 102. The first in a series of two courses designed to cover an advanced understanding of industrial organic chemistry including reactivity of various aliphatic and aromatic compounds, various lab techniques and basic concepts in organic chemistry. 2 lecture hours; 4 lab hours.

CHT 212 Organic Chemistry II -- Prerequisite: CHT 211. The second in a series of two courses designed to cover an advanced understanding of industrial Organic Chemistry including reactivity of various aliphatic and aromatic compounds, various lab techniques and basic concepts in organic chemistry. 2 lecture hours; 4 lab hours.

CHT 280 Co-op/Internship -- Prerequisite: CHT program chair approval. Students work at a job site that is specifically related to his/her career objectives. Provides extensive job experience while earning credit towards associate’s degree. Contact hours vary.

FRN 101 Introduction to Forensic Science -- Prerequisites: “C” or better in ENG 025, ENG 032, MAT 050 or assessment/waiver. Introductory course in forensic science designed to introduce students to the basic concepts of forensic science including pathology, toxicology, trace evidence and criminal behavior. 3 lecture hours.

FRN 203 Crime Methods and Techniques -- Prerequisites: CHT 101, FRN 101. Advanced course in forensic science focusing on crime scene management, recognition, documentation, collection, preservation, and processing of crime scene evidence. In a laboratory setting, students will investigate crime scenes and analyze their results. 2 lecture hours; 4 lab hours.
