Introduction to
American Government and Politics -- Prerequisites: "C"
or better in ENG 025, ENG 032, or assessment/waiver. Studies
federalism, theories of the origins and purposes of government and
other aspects of the American government, including interest
groups, political parties, and the electoral process. Emphasis is
placed on constitutional backgrounds and the organization and
functions of the executive, legislative, and judicial segments of
the national government, civil liberties and civil rights, public
opinion, media, bureaucracies, and domestic and foreign policy. 3
lecture hours.

State and Local
Government -- Prerequisites: "C" or better in ENG 025,
ENG 032, or assessment/waiver. A study of the basic
organization and historical developments of the states, cities,
counties, townships and special districts. Special emphasis is
given to the federal relationships of the states with the central
government and the struggle over states’ rights. Also
emphasized are the problems facing state and local governments in
the fields of urban renewal, crime, transportation, finance,
education and governmental reform. 3 lecture hours. |

basic principles of political science, government and its
institutions, international relations, political philosophy, and

history, and environment on political behavior/events. 3 lecture

Personal Law --
Prerequisites: "C" or better in ENG 025, ENG 032, or
assessment/waiver. This course will cover the basic
relationship of Congressional law, the Federal and State court
structures, constitutional law, and common law. These relationships
will stress how they relate to the individual rights of citizens.
The course will emphasize political rights, criminal rights, civil
suits, consumer rights, and labor management rights. 3 lecture

Introduction to World
Politics -- Prerequisite: POL 201. This course is
designed as a capstone course for all Pre-Law majors as a
requirement for graduation. The course evaluates the growth of
modern nation-states, the causes of conflict and war between
nations, the impact of war and peace on modern political
ideologies, and the economic and social consequences of political
action. Emphasis will be placed on a study of current events in a
global comparative perspective. The course will emphasize critical
thinking and comparative analysis through essay and research paper
evaluations built into the course format. 3 lecture hours. |

Public
Administration -- Prerequisites: "C" or better in ENG
025, ENG 032, or assessment/waiver. This course is designed to
examine the structure and function of the bureaucratic arm of the
executive branch of government. Special emphasis will be placed on
the internal workings of government agencies of administration on
the local, state and national levels. Considerable attention will
be paid to the power exerted through these agencies. 3 lecture
