Working with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors and nurses, they regularly interact with patients. Performing administrative and clinical duties, they may also manage facilities, personnel, and emergencies. Medical assistants often work in physician offices and clinics, and may work in the front office or in the examination or procedure rooms. Ivy Tech offers an associate of applied science degree in Medical Assisting, and a Generalist concentration technical certificate. In the rapidly changing healthcare field, nurses have several career options that are both challenging and rewarding. They are responsible for assessing patient health and hygiene, performing therapeutic procedures, educating patients, administering medication, monitoring intravenous therapy, and recording patient data. Practical nurses may work in a variety of settings, including physician clinics or offices, hospitals, long term care facilities, and industries. Practical nurses work in healthcare institutions providing basic bedside care.
