The following is a list of the Ivy Tech Lafayette scholarships being offered.  Before applying, make sure the scholarship you're applying for is being offered in the semester you wish to attend, and that you qualify for the scholarship you are applying for.

Health Division Scholarship

Field of Study: Practical Nursing or Respiratory Care Program
Award Range: Award may be up to, but will not exceed, $225
Based On: Academic performance
New or Returning: Returning, full-time
Use of Money: Offset the costs of tuition, fees, and textbooks
Time Period: One semester
Application Deadline: November 1, 2005 for Spring semester

Selection Criteria Presented by members of the Health Division faculty - Ivy Tech Community College to deserving students who are enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and have demonstrated at least average academic achievement.
The student must:

  1. be enrolled in Practical Nursing or Respiratory Care
  2. be a full-time student
  3. submit 3 faculty/staff recommendation forms, two of which must be health division faculty
  4. have at least a 2.0 G.P.A.

Tecumseh Area Kiwanis Club Scholarship

Field of Study: Practical Nursing program
Award Range: Award may be up to, but will not exceed, $250
Based On: Academic performance
New or Returning: Returning, full- or part-time
Use of Money: Offset the costs of tuition, fees and textbooks
Time Period: One semester
Application Deadline: November 1, 2005 for Spring semester

Selection Criteria
This scholarship is available to continuing Ivy Tech Community College students in the Practical Nursing program.
The student must:

  1. be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
  2. be enrolled in an Ivy Tech Community College Practical Nursing program
  3. have at least a 2.0 G.P.A.
  4. submit three faculty/staff recommendation forms
  5. demonstrate financial need that has not been met by other grant programs

A committee from the Tecumseh Area Kiwanis Club will review the applications and choose one recipient.

Patti Halligan Memorial Scholarship
Sponsored by: Theta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Chi

Field of Study: Business Administration or Office Administration degree programs
Award Range: One time award may be up to, but will not exceed, $320.
Based On: Residence and academic performance
New or Returning Student: Returning, full-time
Use of Money: Offset the costs for tuition, text. books and fees
Time Period: One semester
Application Deadline: November 1, 2005 for Spring semester

Selection Criteria
The student must:

  1. be a resident of Jasper County
  2. maintain at least a 2.0 G.P.A.
  3. have completed at least 12 credit hours
  4. submit 2 faculty/staff recommendation forms
  5. demonstrate active participation in community activities

Child Development Scholarship

Field of Study: Child Development
Award Range: Award may be up to, but will not exceed, $400.
Based On: Financial need
New or Returning: New or Returning
Use of Money: Offset the costs for tuition, books and fees
Time Period: One semester
Application Deadline: November 1, 2005 for Spring semester

Selection Criteria
The student must:

  1. maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative G.P.A.
  2. demonstrate financial need through the Office of Financial Aid
  3. must be registered in one of the following courses: CHD 142, 143, 144 OR 145

Field of Study: Any Ivy Tech Community College program
Award Range: Award may be up to, but will not exceed, $400
Based On: Academic performance and financial need
New or Returning Student: Returning, full-time
Use of Money: Off set costs for tuition, text. books and fees
Time Period: One semester
Application Deadline: November 1, 2005 for Spring semester

Selection Criteria
The student must:

  1. demonstrate financial need, which has not been met by other grant programs
  2. have at least a 2.0 G.P.A.
  3. Submit three faculty/staff recommendations
  4. be enrolled in an Ivy Tech Community College program.
  5. be a continuing student who is enrolled in or has completed 12 credit hours

Kappa Kappa Sigma Scholarship [Alpha Beta Chapter]

Field of Study: Any Ivy Tech Community College degree program
Award Amount: Award can be up to, but will not exceed, $250
Based On: Gender and marital status
New or Returning: Returning, full-time
Use of Money: Offset the costs of tuition, textbooks and fees
Time Period: One semester
Application Deadline: November 1, 2005 for Spring semester

Selection Criteria
This scholarship is presented by the Alpha Beta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority, Lafayette, in conjunction with Ivy Tech Community College, Region 4.
The student must:

  1. be enrolled in an Ivy Tech Community College degree program as a full-time student
  2. be a single, female parent
  3. have at least a 2.0 G.P.A.
  4. Have completed or now be enrolled in 12 credit hours
  5. submit 2 faculty/staff recommendations
A committee established by the sponsoring sorority will decide on all awards. They in turn will notify the College of their selection.

Straszhiem Family Scholarship

Field of Study: P.N. or ADN student
Award Range: May be up to, but will not exceed, $300
Based On: Financial need and community involvement
New or Returning: New student in either the Practical Nursing, or Associate Degree Nursing program
Use of Money: Applied toward tuition, fees and textbooks
Time Period: One semester
Application Deadline: November 1, 2005 for Spring semester

Selection Criteria The Straszheim Family of Lafayette has established a scholarship fund for deserving students who wish to pursue a College degree at Ivy Tech Community College.
The Student must:

  1. be new and degree seeking in either the Practical Nursing, or Associate Degree Nursing program
  2. demonstrate financial need that has not been met by other grant programs
  3. submit three faculty/staff recommendations
  4. demonstrate a concern for others, and a willingness to serve the community.

Wea Valley Memorial Scholarship

Field of Study: Any Ivy Tech Community College program
Award Range: May be up to $400, but will not exceed thisamount.
Based On: Above average academic performance
New or Returning Student: Returning, full- or part-time
Use of Money: Offset the costs for tuition, books and fees
Time Period: One semester
Application Deadline: November 1, 2005 for Spring semester

The student must:

  1. maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative G.P.A.
  2. Submit three faculty/staff recommendation forms
  3. have completed at least one semester at Ivy Tech Community College

Adult Re-entry Scholarship

Field of Study: Any Ivy Tech Community College program
Award Range: May be up to $300, but will not exceed thisamount. Renewal Award may cover up to 12 credit hours of tuition.
Based On: Financial need and see selection criteria
New or Returning Students: New or Returning, full-or part-time
Use of Money: Offset the costs of tuition, textbooks and fees
Time Period: One semester
Application Deadline: November 1, 2005 for Spring semester

Selection Criteria
The student must:

  1. apply for Financial Aid
  2. meet with the Adult Re-entry Coordinator and have a recommendation form completed.
  3. Have assessment testing completed
  4. demonstrate financial need through the Financial Aid Office

Sandra Hartman-Fields Scholarship

Field of Study: Surgical Technology, Practical Nursing, or Associate Degree Nursing Program
Award Range: Award may be up to, but will not exceed $500
Based On: Financial need and county of residence
New or Returning: Returning
Use of Money: To offset the cost of tuition, fees and textbooks
Time Period: One semester
Application Deadline: November 1, 2005 for Spring semester

Selection Criteria
Dr. and Mrs. D.C. Fields have established the Sandra Hartman-Fields Scholarship Fund for deserving students who wish to pursue a college degree at Ivy Tech Community College. Indicating an interest in this scholarship will allow the Financial Assistance Office to mail you an application when they become available. The Fields have appointed a selection committee: its award decision is final.
The student must:

  1. be registered as a degree or technical-certificate-seeking student in one of the following Ivy Tech Community College programs: Surgical Technology, Practical Nursing, or Associate Degree Nursing Programs
  2. have completed at least on-half of their program of study
  3. have demonstrated financial need that has not been met by other grant programs
  4. have a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0
  5. be a resident of Tippecanoe County
  6. be willing to sign a press release

School of Business Scholarship

Field of Study: School of Business Degree Program
Award Range: The award may be up to, but will not exceed $95
Based On: Academics
New or Returning: Returning, full-time
Use of Money: Offset the costs of tuition, fees and textbooks
Time Period: One semester
Application Deadline: November 1, 2005 for Spring semester

Selection Criteria
Presented by members of the School of Business Faculty, Ivy Tech Community College - Lafayette, to deserving students who are enrolled in a School of Business degree program. The student should have demonstrated at least average academic achievement.

  1. Enrolled in a School of Business program, full-time
  2. Have at least a 2.0 cumulative G.P.A.
  3. Submit three faculty/staff recommendation forms [at least two from the School of Business faculty]

Top

County Scholarship for Academic Excellence [one award will be given to a resident of each of the following counties: Benton, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Warren & White]

Field of Study: Any Ivy Tech Community College program
Award Range: Full tuition remission for a minimum of 12 credits, maximum of 15 credits
Based On: Scholarship and superior ability
New or Returning: Newly Accepted or Returning, full-time student
Use of Money: Tuition costs only
Time Period: One semester [may not be applied to the Summer semester]
Application Deadline: November 1, 2005 for Spring semester

Selection Criteria
The student must:

  1. have a high school or Ivy Tech Community College G.P.A. of 3.0 or better; GED scores of 54 or better can substitute for high school G.P.A.
  2. Have not completed a prior degree [associates or higher]
  3. submit three faculty/staff recommendations
  4. be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours, up to a maximum of 15 credit hours per semester
  5. must be enrolled at the campus making the award
  6. maintain satisfactory standards of progress
  7. have shown a concern for others, and a willingness to serve the community

Lafayette Rotary Club

Field of Study: Any Ivy Tech Community College program
Award Range: Award may be, but will not exceed $400
Based On: Academics
New or Returning: Returning
Use of Money: Reduce the costs of tuition, fees, and textbooks
Time Period: One semester
Application Deadline: November 1, 2005

Selection Criteria
Indicating an interest in this scholarship will allow the Financial Assistance Office to mail you an application when they become available in January 2001. The Lafayette Rotary Club appoints a selection committee from its members; their award decision is final.

When the student receives the application in January, he/she must:

  1. type the application and all supporting materials
  2. have not completed a prior degree [associates or higher]
  3. submit two letters of recommendation each from a different source [for example, one teacher and one friend or one relative and one friend, etc.]
  4. submit a typed, 500 word essay [topic determined by committee and identified on the application]
  5. have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or better
  6. applicants must submit an official transcript with their application, essay and letters of recommendation
  7. return the complete application package to the Dean of Student Affairs Office
