Tips for Completing a Scholarship Application

  1. Submit a neatly, completed application. It is not mandatory that the application be typed, however you want to present your application in a neat, legible format.

  2. Recommendations count! If a specific scholarship requests that you submit three faculty or staff recommendations, you might ask four or five different people. Remember that faculty and staff members are not required to make a recommendation for you.

  3. Review the selection criteria. You probably will not be eligible for all scholarships that are offered during a specific semester. List only those scholarships on your application that you meet the criteria.

  4. Meet the deadline. Applications and recommendations will not be accepted after the deadline.

  5. For Summer Semester 2006 need based scholarships, you must have completed a Free Application for Student Aid [FAFSA] by March 1, 2006

  6. For Spring Semester 2006 need based scholarships, you must have completed the Free Application for Student Aid, [FAFSA] no later than August 1, 2005.

A committee appointed by the Chancellor will review the applications and recommend the recipients to the Chancellor. All decisions of the committee are final and confidential.
