State of Indiana Grants and Scholarships

The State of Indiana offers these grants, scholarships, and fee remission programs to help you pay for your education.

Indiana Higher Education Awards are available to Indiana residents attending Indiana colleges, enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours. The program is administered by the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana and awards are based upon financial need. Application is made by filing the FAFSA by March 1 preceding the fall term of enrollment. Awards range from $100 to $700 per term. Indiana Higher Education Award

The Twenty-First Century Scholars Program is administered by the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana [SSACI]. Application for the program is made when a student is in the eighth grade; eligibility for the program is based on income as determined by Federal Reduced/Free Lunch program requirements. 21st Century Scholars Program

The SSACI Nursing Scholarship Program is administered by the Ivy Tech Financial Aid Ofice. Applicants must demonstrate financial need by filing the FAFSA and submit a separate application to the Financial Aid Office by August 15th before the fall term of enrollment. Preference for the award is given to students who have been accepted and are taking courses in the Practical Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing programs. Typical awardamounts for the limited dollars in the program have ranged from $100 to $400 per term. Nursing Scholarship

The Robert Byrd Honors Scholarship Program is administered by the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana [SSACI]. Application for the program is made when a student is a senior in high school, and the funds are very limited. Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program

The State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana [SSACI] may award from one to three Hoosier Scholar Awards per high school, based on the size of the graduating class. Candidates are nominated by their high schools. The Hoosier Scholarship is a one-time nonrenewable merit award in theamount of $500 for one academic year.
